Towards an integrated solution to manage data and information across disparate data sources
As a part of the information gateway initiative, the linkage between structured data and unstructured data plays a critical role. Data mining and machine learning are used to create an intelligent tool to link operator logs, outage reports, work orders and engineer drawings to the asset registers.
Both image processing and text analytics methods were utilised to extract context from various documents such as scanned PDF documents (e.g. site plan, engineering drawings) and structured data sources (e.g. existing file tags, access logs).
By bring all data into one place, informed decisions can be made by the engineers real-time.
